THE JOB:

Blue Q makes gifts—unique and useful items designed in collaboration with artists all over the world. It all starts with our 7-person New Product Development team, made up of designers, art directors, writers, and project managers. The team dreams up product ideas, researches processes, factories, and artists, then directs and refines incoming artwork. We also design all the stuff to support our products in our customers’ retail shops and oversee everything on BlueQ.com.   
 

• Projects include graphic design, production, concept development, catalogs, website, tradeshow graphics, marketing pieces, shaping social media content, video editing, etc. And you’ll probably get roped into making painted cardboard constructions for an email blast or company celebration, of which there are many.  
   
• This is a full-time, in-house position in Pittsfield, Mass., wonderfully situated in the beautiful, bucolic Berkshires—just a few hours’ drive from NYC and Boston. It’s a fast-paced, open work environment with health insurance, profit sharing, employee stock ownership, awesome coworkers, and space to grow. Everything’s always changing at Blue Q. YOU ARE:

Curious and proactive, brave and versatile. Fast and loose, with an eagle eye for the details. You’re organized, focused, hungry, and always listening. You know how to own your own work while staying open, communicative, and collaborative. And finally, you thrive in a group.

YOUR SKILLS ARE:

5+ years of experience working in a range of creative and collaborative environments. With top-notch Adobe Creative Suite skills and a basic understanding of HTML and CSS. A foundation in illustration is a big plus, as is experience in video, and a good ear for copy. But a significant background in various categories of graphic design is important. Experience in product and packaging design is another plus.

A diverse portfolio with varied solutions and playful methods. We love seeing personal work, which can be silly or indulgent, polished or rough. Tell us about the other things you’ve done, too. Have you managed a social media account? Are you an animation wiz? Have you written a series of mystery novels?
