“Take a bath — it works wonders.”

Listen to music while you work?

Anything special in your work space that unleashes your creative juices? Yes, I love listening to podcasts and music — a favorite is the Penguin Cafe orchestra at the moment. I’m lucky enough to have a studio space at the end of my garden, so just being near trees and plants always feels very calming and inspiring.

What do you do when you need a break?

Have a cup of tea and sit in a sunny spot if at all possible.

Where do your best ideas come from? (dreams, shower, museum, train?)

When I need to start a project or figure out something I take a bath — it works wonders. Also, walks, garden visits and travelling.

Did you have a magic moment when you knew you wanted art to be your life?

When I was very small — maybe as young as 3 or 4 years old and my sister was born — I have a memory that I would sit at a miniature table, eat clementines and draw while my mum got her ready. I’ve always drawn, it’s part of who I am.

How does creativity run in your family, even if it’s not design-related?

My sister paints and makes amazing lamps. My dad renovated our house growing up and is forever making things like sheds and adventure playgrounds for his grandchildren.
